Volk Packaging is honored to have been awarded the 2012 Governor’s Award for Business Excellence at the State House in Augusta today. Governor Paul LePage presented the award to Doug Volk who accepted on everyone’s behalf.

Maine Box Sales Continue to Grow!

Another great month for the Maine Box Factory!! Last year we sold $32,942 worth of stock boxes and packaging supplies in April and this year it jumped to $47,773. Sales year-to-date are up $34%!

Volk Packaging sponsors an entire family in Little League

In a funny coincidence, a family of 3 girls in Scarborough all ended up on Volk Packaging teams. The Saraceno girls are playing softball in Scarborough in Farm, Minors and Majors and somehow all ended up on a Volk Packaging team, and they are all #7. Volk Packaging has been a supporter of at least one Little League team for almost 40 years and is currently sponsoring 4 Little League teams in Scarborough. We wish good luck and lots of hits to the Saracenos and all the kids playing Little League this spring!

As I have reported on this blog before, Mark Wasserman created “Houses for Change” and, in conjunction with Volk Packaging, over 20,000 kids have colored boxes and made donations to help the homeless. It is a tremendously important cause and Volk Packaging is honored to be a part of it. This week, Mark was voted as one of the Top 7 Volunteers in America by the AARP. Sam Alexander on the Wall

As many of you know, I have a Wall of Fame. On that wall I have almost 400 autographs signed by celebrities, famous athletes, politicians and others well known. To make the Wall you have to write “Everybody Loves Boxes” with your name. Leave off the ELB and the autograph doesn’t make the wall. Back in September Golf Week featured a young boy from Maine who loved golf despite battling cancer. The story inspired me so much I sent him a copy asking for him to autograph it. I would put it on the wall with the dozens of world famous golfers that already declared their love of boxes. Sadly, Sam passed away just before my letter arrived. In fact, his parents received the request on the day of his funeral. It is heart breaking. However, I am now honored to announce that Sam’s picture is indeed on my Wall, signed with “Everybody Loves Boxes, Sam’s mom.” It is hanging proudly surrounded by Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Tom Watson, Gary Player, Lee Trevino, Greg Norman and Curtis Strange. Sam’s photo is in very good company but those golf legends are in even better company because Sam is now there!
