Sunday efforts

Sunday, February 26th, 2012

I came in this morning at 5:30am, after a week on vacation, to find the plant running.  I was surprised when I walked in and heard the 50″ flexo noise so early on a Sunday morning.  As it turns out, a customer was in dire need of some boxes so we had a crew in the plant on a Sunday morning making sure the customer had what they needed on Monday.  That is the kind of service that keeps our customers coming back with more orders.  Thanks to Jeff Labelle, Joe Harrison and Jeremy Poitras!!

A Blog from Mrs. Allen’s students – Junior Achievement Job Shadow Day 2012

Tuesday, February 7th, 2012

Hi this is Brandon, Evan, and Ben from Mrs. Allen’s class. We have just taken a tour of Volk Packaging and it was very interesting. We learned how the boxes are stamped, watched  how the boxes are creased and cut, and learned how to take a call and get someone’s attention. We also were partnered with the company’s president. He talked to us about how the company was run and how they treat their customers with respect. The job shadowing was fun and we learned a lot about Volk Packaging.

Derek Volk attended the Maine Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Summit at Sunday River in Newry, Maine on February 3, 2012. It is an amazing event where Maine’s business leaders and legislators (from both parties) get together to spend the day (and evening prior) discussing what needs to happen to enhance and grow Maine’s business climate. The event was attended by about 100 business leaders and many legislators, including Derek’s wife, Rep. Amy Volk of Scarborough, who helped lead one of the panel discussions.
